Hunting

We're apartment hunting.  And gosh, is it ever exhausting.
Life in general is exhausting these days.  I think being 8 months pregnant does that to you.

But we are hunting.  I have seen so many apartments/houses in the last week that they are all starting to scramble together, and my pregnant foggy brain can't remember which is which.  I see apartments in my dreams.

We are sad to leave the beach house that Kirk's parents have so kindly let us call home the past 9 months.  Kirk will really, really miss it.  If only because he will no longer have good surf practically at his front door anymore.  I guess I can't blame him, though.  I will miss it too.

I won't miss the construction noise, however.  In the next year or so, the street this house is on will look completely different than it did a year ago.  Just in the time we have lived here, 4 houses surrounding us have been undergoing major renovations.  And soon, the little 1970s house we've been living in will meet the same fate as his neighbors.  And I want to move before little man Lindahl decides to show up.  And his due date is in 8 weeks.  8 weeks!  So soon.

So we are craigslisting and looking and touring and looking and asking questions and looking.  But it is tough because we are currently in a funky state of limbo.  Kirk has now pretty much completed the training for his job, so we're just waiting for them to place us somewhere.  Where or when that's going to happen, we don't know, but probably not for another few months.  So, we need a short lease but we are both picky.  Plus, every place I walk in to I secretly think, "Could I bring my baby home here?"  I can't help it.

But we are determined.  And even though life is a little crazy right now (and only promising to get more crazy in the next couple of months), we are happy, grateful, and excited for the near future.

But to get through it, I am definitely going to need some more sleep before this baby comes.  I don't know why people tell you to sleep as much as you can when you're pregnant.  It's practically impossible.
