6 months.

Last Friday, Ace turned 6 months old.  Half a year.  I can hardly believe it.

He was sitting up straight before these pictures, but he can only sit still for oh, half a second.  He's got places to go, man.

Blurry, but oh hey, look at my two teeth!

Happy 6 months Aceman!  He continues to be a happy, squirmy, wiggly, funny little guy.  His personality comes out more and more and it's so much fun.  He's recently become a little more attached to me, especially when he's tired or fussy (and secretly I like it). He can sit up pretty well now - although like I said he doesn't do it for long because he'd rather be going somewhere.  He still army crawls like a pro - and full-on crawling is imminent.  Peek-a-boo is his favorite game as of late.

Oh, and he likes to work out. Go ahead and click on this to make it bigger.
His latest trick - pushing himself up on his hands and toes and holding it for a few seconds.  Funny boy.  I just want to squeeze his little baby thighs.

tuesday night

Tuesday night Kirk got off work a little early (a rare and happy occasion), so we tucked Aceman into the bike trailer and rode down the street to the farmer's market/street fair.  It's quite the event down here - every Tuesday they shut down all of main street to traffic, all the stores stay open, and they have tons of vendors.  And the crowd is a little more mellow than the weekend one - thankfully.
 Mid-sneeze.

We love riding our bikes everywhere here.  It's just a short ride to the beach or downtown.
I think it helps that it's completely flat... much more incentive for me to hop on the bike.

Of course, he slept the whole way there.

 One-man band.

(Creepy) bubble man.

 (Even creepier) pirate man.

Ace wasn't quite sure what to think of all those people, but we had a good time.  A good time which may or may not have involved eating tamales and nursing discreetly in the entrance to a parking garage (a nice one, though).  Should've got a picture of that - fun times!  :)

big bear

This past weekend we headed up to Big Bear, to enjoy the mountains and spend some time on the lake with Kirk's family.  It was beautiful, as always.  The weather report threatened rainstorms, but we ended up with perfect weather all weekend!

The camera didn't make it on the boat with us, but I did take a couple on the little bike ride we went on. It turned out to be quite the adventure - Ace and his cutie cousin Claire shared the bike trailer, which didn't end up so well.  Can't say I blame them - babies need their space, too.

With concerned faces like these, I guess we should have predicted unsuccessful trailer-sharing.  They did look pretty cute in there together, though.  Ace tried to comfort Claire at one point and put his arm around her.  What a gentleman.

All in all, it was a fun little family bike ride!  And a very fun weekend.  Now if only weekends away didn't involve little legs kicking me in the back at 3 in the morning because a certain little someone doesn't like to sleep in the pack-and-play, they would be perfect.  Ah, well, such is parenthood.

This boy.

I do realize that every single one of my posts is about Aceman, but since every thing I do revolves around him, it's hard to avoid that.  Plus, he's darn cute and this is my blog so I don't care. :)

In a little over a week this little man will be 6 months old.  6 months!  It really feels like I had him yesterday, although I also have a hard time remembering what life was like before he got here.  Time has been in hyper-drive since he's been born, and it's amazing how quickly he changes.  In just the past couple of weeks, he has developed the most funny little personality.  He makes the funniest faces and knows he's doing it.  If he's playing on the floor and I'm distracted, he'll whimper a little bit until I look over, and then break out into a smile.  He notices now when I leave the room, and he gets SO excited when Dad gets home from work.  He would never cry if all I did was sit and play with him all day. He has his army crawl down, and gets into everything at his level.  Just as I typed that he knocked over the trashcan at my feet.  Lovely.

As much as I hate to see him grow up, I love it, too.  He is the best little buddy Kirk and I could ever ask for.  Being a mom is hard.  Hard work, all the time.  Harder than you can ever prepare yourself for, and I've only been at it 6 months (and I have a relatively "easy" baby).  But it's also the best.  Aceman-spaceman, you're the coolest little guy around.  Mommy and Daddy sure love you.
